The article on hackers by Zhu uses a definitional claim to make his point.  He defines hacking and what it means to be a a hacker. I felt his thesis was “With the recent boom in infirmation technology, a fear surrounding malicious teenage hackers has re-emergered in the minds of the public.”  He explains what a hacker is, when and where they first become known by mainstream America, the 60′s, and explains how hacking has changed in the new generation of hackers.  He discusses the change in the way the first generation of hackers were treated and punished compared to how these third generation hackers have laws passed that are aimed directly at them.  Zhu shows us how hackers are much like normal teenagers and that ” ‘In fact, many of them see themselves as party animals rather than boring comupter geeks.’ “
